City Starts 2009-11 Goal Setting and Budget Process 
In June 2009, the Council will approve a two-year budget for 2009-11. In San Luis Obispo, this is much more than a "numbers" document: the budget determines the City's priorities and sets our course for the next two years. For this reason, the central question facing us in both good times and bas is: What are the most important things for the City to accomplish over the next two years? And with the very tough fiscal outlook facing the City, which would be much worse without Measure Y revenues, it's an especially important question this budget season.

2009 Annual Advisory Body Recruitment
The City Council encourages and values active citizen participation in the government of the City.  Serving on an advisory committee or commission is one way for citizens to participate.  Whether you're a new resident or have enjoyed the benefits of the SLO life for some time, membership on one of the City's committees or commissions can provide you with an opportunity to meet new people and make a difference.  For applications and additional information, contact the City Clerk's Office.  Don't wait...the application deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2009.

Utility Billing Winter Water Use Schedule
provides service period dates for individual meter routes for the residential volume based sewer rate.  The residential volume based sewer rate is based on the individual customer's average winter water consumption (AWWC) as established during the winter months of December, January, and February. Based on the meter read schedule, the winter water use service period begins in mid-November and ends in mid-March to include all customer routes encompassing the winter months. Draft Stormwater Ordinance
The City, in accordance with Federal and State regulations, has developed a draft Stormwater Ordinance. The ordinance details regulations that prohibit discharge of any type of pollutant from entering the City's stormwater conveyance system.  The ordinance also provides Best Management Practices to be used to alleviate potential sources of water pollution. Even seemingly innocuous things, such as treated drinking water can adversely affect the fragile ecosystems that occupy our local creeks, lakes and oceans. Working together we can protect the unique features and qualities of our environment that makes our City a very special place to live, work and play in.
